1. Complete Act 1.7--Read final poem by e.e. cummings. The whole point of this activity is to note the Speaker's attitude/tone toward the subject.

• Tone: The author's attitude toward his or her subject. For example. a tone can be sarcastic, optimistic or angry.

2. You will write your own 10-15 line poem describing your attitude towards America. This will be done as homework.

3. Activity 1.8--This is about different parts of the American Dream. You will be assigned to a specific part of the text. After you read and take notes of your section you will get into a group of students who read the same section as you.
